Creating bundles

Condition groups

Condition groups let you build branching, decision-driven bundles. Instead of holding products, a condition group asks the customer to choose from a set of labelled options called branches. Each branch can reveal a different group of products.

For example, a coffee bundle could start with a "Grind setting" condition group with three branches: Whole bean, Plunger and Ground. Choosing a branch shows the coffees available in that grind.

Plan requirement

Condition groups are included on selected plans. If your plan doesn't include them, the button shows Add condition (upgrade required) and opens the Subscription page. See Plans and billing.

Creating a condition group

Select + Add condition in the bundle editor. This adds an empty condition group.

A condition group has a title, a parent group and branches. It has no products and no minimum or maximum selections: customers always choose exactly one branch. Set it up by adding branches.

Adding branches

Branches are the options shown to customers, in place of a product list. On the storefront they appear as radio buttons, and the customer must choose one before adding the bundle to their cart.

Open the condition group's card and select Add branch. In the Edit condition branch window, set:

  • Label: the option text shown to the customer, for example "Whole bean" or "No thanks".
  • Select a group: an optional nested group to show when the customer chooses this branch.

A branch doesn't need a group. A branch without one is still a valid choice, it just doesn't add anything else to the bundle. This is useful for "No thanks" options.

A condition group must have at least one branch before the bundle can be saved.

Linking a branch to a group

Only groups nested under the condition group can be linked to its branches. To set this up:

  1. Open the condition group's menu and select Add product group to create a nested group. Select Add condition instead to create a further condition group for another level of choices.
  2. Give the nested group a title and add its products.
  3. On the condition group's card, select Add branch, or select an existing branch to edit it.
  4. Choose the nested group under Select a group.

Once linked, the nested group only appears after the customer chooses its branch.

If you don't link a nested group to any branch, it appears as soon as the customer chooses any branch.

What customers see

  1. The condition group's title and its branches are shown as radio buttons.
  2. When the customer chooses a branch, the linked group appears below.
  3. If they change their mind and choose another branch, the first branch's group is hidden and its selections are cleared, and the new branch's group appears.

This keeps the form short: customers only see the products that match their choice.

Grid layout

In the grid layout, branches can have a different number of columns from product groups. For example, three short grind options across the page, above four coffees per row.

Nested groups in a condition group

Groups created under a condition group behave like nested product groups. They're hidden from the top level of the editor and opened with the x nested groups label on the condition group's card. The difference is that they're shown by the branch the customer chooses, rather than by a product selection.

Reordering branches

Branches are listed in the order they're created. To reorder them, drag a branch by its handle on the condition group's card. The storefront shows branches in the same order.

Deleting a branch

Select the branch to open the Edit condition branch window, then delete it. Deleting a branch doesn't delete its linked group. The group stays nested under the condition group, where you can link it to another branch or delete it separately.
